PROOFREADING
Proofreading is the reading of a publication to detect and correct production errors of text or art. This is the last stage of typographic production before publication. Examples of proofreader corrections would include typographical errors, minor punctuation and grammar issues. Proofreading is also appropriate for previously published works.

‘AMERICANIZATION’ OF MANUSCRIPT (Standard American English Edit) Designed for clients who are writing in English but not located in the United States. Don’t get caught with your pants down by using the word “knickers” when you mean underwear! Protect your credibility and accuracy with a Standard American English (SAE) edit. We’ll fact-check your descriptions and settings (including distance and travel times), ensure your phrasing and slang is appropriately American and help you avoid common mistakes that disrupt the reader’s experience and compromise your reputation. Includes minor proofreading corrections.

COPY EDITING
Copy editing is the work that an editor does to improve the formatting, style and accuracy of text. This service includes proofreading services (as defined above). Examples of copy editing corrections would include eliminating repetitive word usage or the dreaded ‘purple prose’, recommendations on improving structure and clarity, ensuring “point of view” consistency.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
Developmental editing helps an author develop a manuscript into a coherent, readable work. This might include helping a novelist organize, sharpen, and tighten a manuscript so that the characters and dialogue were believable, the plot coherent, and the setting appropriate. Examples of the work of developmental editing would include suggesting additions and deletions, recommending and assisting with the expansion of an idea or plot point or identifying serious inconsistencies or inaccuracies.

REWRITING AND STRUCTURAL EDITING
Rewriting and structural editing involves assistance from the editor in creating a new manuscript or parts of a manuscript on the basis of content and research supplied by Author.

Our pricing:

Basic proofreading is charged at $0.003 per word. (i.e. $300 for a 100,000 word manuscript)

Standard American English editing is charged at $0.004 per word. (i.e. $400 for a 100,000 word manuscript)

Copy editing is charged at $0.006 per word. (i.e. $600 for a 100,000 word manuscript)

Developmental editing is charged at $0.009 per word. (i.e. $900 for a 100,000 word manuscript)

Rewriting and structural editing is charged at a rate mutually agreed upon by the editor and the author.

The editor reserves the right to negotiate price per word for services that fall between categories. Terms of pricing for all services will be agreed upon by the client and editor prior to the editing process.
